Province investing additional $15M into services, upgrades, renos at City Hospital
The Government of Saskatchewan is supporting the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) in continuing efforts to address the capacity pressures in provincial hospitals, with the immediate focus on Saskatoon City Hospital (SCH).
The province is investing an additional $15 million this fiscal year to accelerate capital renovations, equipment upgrades and operations to expand acute care services at SCH. This will include the addition of over 100 acute care inpatient beds.
This funding builds on the $30 million previously allocated in the 2024-25 budget to enhance hospital capacity and expand emergency and acute care services.
“The work we do today will have a lasting impact on the provincial health care system. We are working closely with our health care partners to improve capacity and deliver more effective, efficient services,” Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill said. “These efforts are ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring Saskatchewan hospitals have the resources to provide high-quality care to every patient.”
The Government of Saskatchewan committed the increased funding to support the work to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care. There will be additional announcements in the upcoming provincial budget.
RECENTLY ATTENDED EVENTS
A wonderful celebration took place in Regina this past Saturday at the 'Evening in Greece 2025 Gala'. The gala fundraiser supports the Hospitals of Regina Foundation.
I was joined by several MLA's in attendance supporting this worthwhile cause.

It was a pleasure to meet with Krunal Chava, President of the University of Saskatchewan Students' Union Executive, and his team, including Moses Ahiabu, Vice President Operations and Finance, and Upkar Singh, Vice President Student Affairs. Elected student leaders possess a great vision for the future of our province.
I was joined by several MLAs as we hosted our second Saskatoon Minister consultation and collaboration day. We are meeting with representatives from Meewasin, the Food Bank, the YMCA CEO, Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority, AIM ED, and Saskatoon & Area MPs.
I was pleased to join Mayor Winder and the residents of the Town of Delisle, on behalf of the Honourable Eric Schmalz, Minister of Government Relations as we recognized the beginning of construction for a new sewage lift station and sewage main. The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to play a role in bringing this project to life.
